Alfonso Aguirre married Martha Liliana Mesa when he was 26 years old. They now have two daughters, who actively participate in all the farm work, and a son. Alfonso is a coffee grower at heart; his father owned this farm and left it to Alfonso, who started administering the farm when he was 22 years old. Since 1988 he’s the owner. He is also an important member of his community. Currently he’s the President of the Community Board, the aqueduct board, and he’s always been a member of the Coffee Committee.
Environmental CareThis farm has a USDA approved Organic Certification and is Rainforest Alliance Certified. Since he has cattle in his farm he uses a biodegrading system that properly processes the cow manure; by doing so he can use this organic matter as a natural fertilizer for his coffee trees. He is very conscious about protecting the environment so he protects the natural waters that go through his farm.
Coffee Processing InformationThe coffee is depulped with the use of a “desmusilaginador” using less than a litter of water per kilogram of coffee.
